THE TRINITY

The Existence of God.

The greatest thoughts in the human mind are the idea of a personal God. The whole idea is very important as it can have a great affect on a person while alive on the earth but can also affect the possible future. If a person believes in a divine Being, who created the world and themselves, then they will also have to ask, "why?"
If a person rejects the idea of any divine control, then they must also accept that they are just an accident of evolution with no possible future except a return to dust and there are no demands on their life, they are just like a puff of smoke. We must therefore examine the question "Is there a God?"

1. It is an interesting fact that all of mankind seems to have some idea of a "supreme Being," if you look at any nation or tribe they all seem to have a god, such as a mountain, an object like a carved tree, even money or possessions has become like a ‘god’ in some western nations. While the idea of a god is found among the many cultures and civilizations there are many differences in the nature, power and location of this supreme Being, often they are based upon human interests and actions. This desire seems to be built into our nature.

2. Built into the mind of Mankind is the idea of right and wrong. Though it may be possible to train an animal’s actions so that it appears to know which is right and wrong, these animals do not have anything like it naturally.

3. The physical argument: Scientists have been able to describe the action and reason for the Laws of Nature. The latest idea’s and proofs accepted by the scientific community takes all creation back to a point in time when it all started, all the laws, stars, planets space etc. all started at that point. The Bible tells us about that time, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1,2.

The Bible does not attempt to prove the existence of God, it simply assumes the existence of God. Psalm 14:1, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."
Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

The greatest proof of the existance of God is just life itself. The Bible tells us that God has created man in his image, and man cannot escape from indications of this fact. Everywhere the identity of mankind follows them.

On an acceptance of the idea of a divine person creating all things then we have to ask "why was I created?" and then examine the divine Person as is describe in the Bible.

The Trinity is a basic Bible doctrine that has puzzled many people.

John mentions, in his letter, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In 1 John 4:2 John used the words, "By this know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God."
Here are references, in one verse, to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Later in the chapter John makes a further reference to the three Persons of the Trinity, 1 John 4:13-15

The word "trinity" is not found in the Bible, but the doctrine is given:-

Matt 28:19,20Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
John 14:16,17,26And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. ------
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you
2 Cor 13:14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
Eph 4:4-6There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

The word "Trinity" is a combination of the words "tri-," which means three, and "unity," with the meaning one. The word has the meaning three-in-one, or one-in-three.

It is important to note that Christians do not believe that there are three individual gods. They believe that one God exists as three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. For example, in the human system, one man can be a husband, a father, and a son. Another example is that water can exist in the form of a liquid form, or as steam, a gas or as ice, a solid but it is still water. The Bible teaches that God is one but that He exists in three Persons.
We must also note that scripture indicates that you cannot have one without the other, the Apostle John says, "Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father" 1 John 2:23. No one Person of the Trinity can be ignored because they are of a lower importance.
