Righteousness

The words "righteous" and "just" are used in the English as translation of the Hebrew word Yashar or "upright" or tsaddiq, with the meaning of "just." These words have the basic idea that the person being referred too is right with God, he / she has these words connected with the because they have fulfilled and observed all of the commandments and ordinances issued by God,
Luke 1:6

"6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. "

In the Old Testament a righteous person was not sinless , but for their sins trusted in the future appearance of the Messiah and was offering in faith the required sacrifice. However, for the New Testament the person has been judicially reckoned to all who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:3.

The word "righteousness" in this verse turns to a legal righteousness or self-righteousness, It shows how futile to work under the Law, which God can approve.

In Revelation 19:7,8.

"7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. "

Here we find that the Bride of Jesus, the Church, was dressed in a righteous garment, a symbol of righteousness, in some ways it could have symbolizes self-righteousness, however, in this case it shows God’s provision of salvation by His Grace through faith in Jesus Christ, they are the garments of salvation, a garment of fine linen, show the works of the Holy of godliness and goodness, as a believer judges their flesh and submits to God.
Romans 13:14.

"13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof."
