Remnant

Remnant

In the dictionary we find that this word has two meanings, however, they are similar meanings,
1) A small remaining part of the original.
2) A small part of the cloth left after the greater part has been used or sold.

However, the references given for the word translated as "remnant" in the scriptures, there we find that the word is not used just with cloth but any remaining small part of the main body of people, or objects.

"And the remnant that remaineth of the curtains of the tent, the half curtain that remaineth, shall hang over the backside of the tabernacle. "

" And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire."

"And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering."

Leviticus 14:18

"And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD."
