Confirmation

Confirmation

The Word "Confirm" has the following meanings.
1) To establish the truth or correctness.
2) To state with Assurance that something is true,
3) To make it definite or valid

Confirm

"Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:"

" Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

"Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him."

Confirmation

"Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. "

"For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife."

There is a church rite which involves the laying on of hands and this is known as "confirmation" it is often associated with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 8:14-17

"14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."

We must note that the gift of the Holy Spirit is normally associated with baptism.

The disciples were associated with a special task.

"6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them."
