Summary of Scripture Words.
Adoption.

Adoption.

Ephesians 1:5

"5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, "

The Word "Adoption, a translation of the Greek word" hulothesia and has the meaning of placing a son. This word was only used by Paul in his Epistles, though it does exist in 1 John. This is not a word of relationship but of position. It is very uncommon in the Jewish families, it was not actually needed
Romans 9:4.

"4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;"
To Paul, the adoption as a son of God is part of the grace of God, unlike the Son ship of Christ, who was a son by nature. For a Believer it is a change of status, from a slave of sin to a child of God, from slavery to son ship. Once a person has been adopted they possess all the family rights, this includes a close access to the Father,

Romans 8:15.

"15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

This also involves the sharing with Christ in the divine inheritance.

Romans 8:17.

"17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."

When a person is regenerated at the forgiveness of their sins, the person is given and receives the nature as of a child of God, he / she has become adopted by God and as such been given the position of a son of God the moment He / she believes.
Galatians 3:26

"26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."

Galatians 4:4-7

"4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

1 John 3:1-3

"1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."

However, the Holy Spirit has given all that believe the knowledge that we are the adopted sons, and daughters of God,
Galatians 4:6

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

The full manifestation of this position will not happen until the redemption of our human body at the Rapture, when we, who believe, will all have our earthly bodies changed into our new heavenly bodies,
Romans 8:23.

"23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

Ephesians 1:13,14.

"13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. "

1 Thessalonians 4:14-17.

"14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. "
