THE MINOR PROPHETS.

The period covered by the Minor Prophets is about 450 years of history. There are twelve books which we call the Minor Prophets, because of their size, not their importance. They vary in size and content but they are showing the God of the universe, His attributes, His holiness, His love for the world and the fact that He is sovereign in all things.

Throughout the Bible and through the minor prophets we can see that God is fully in control of every situation, He may allow some things to happen which may involve evil men but they are all according to His divine plan. The events in the world, past present and future are all under His control and everything which happens to us personally is not a random occurences, it is part of His plan. Note however, that God does not cause evil but does allow evil events and acts to take place according to the desire of Mankind. These evil events may effect His people, but they are according to His divine purpose and ultimately will be to His glory.
Consider Romans 8:28-39, note especially verse 28.

God is a Holy God, He cannot tolerate sin in any form. God is perfect in His holiness,
1 John 1:5.
This holiness creates a problem for anyone who fails to achieve the perfection of God, which actually means all of Mankind, but in love He has created a way for us to become acceptable in His sight through the sacrifice of His Son, by Jesus Christ on the cross, he took the punishment for sin in our place. A gift which we can accept or reject.
Throughout the Minor prophets books you can hear them warning and calling the people to repent of their sin, if they do not repent and turn back to God then only judgement will result, God must be the judge and punish sin.

The prophets were sent by God with the warning message of the coming judgement because of their sin, but this also shows how great is His love for His people, they are given a chance to repent and turn back to Him, He does not want any to perish.

The Minor Prophets should not be ignored, they invite us to look upon this Holy, loving God and what He is doing in the world.
