Luke
Introduction
The thoughts and note material given on these pages are only a possible suggestion of the meaning, they must not be taken as inspired, however they are prayerfully prepared and compared with other similar material. There are many ways in which God’s Word can be analyzed and none must be taken in place of the Word of God itself.

St. Luke’s Gospel
WRITER. Luke, a Gentile doctor, Col 4:14. Luke and Acts were both written by Luke addressed to Theophilus. We first know of Luke in Acts, Acts 16:10, Luke appears to have joined Paul as one of the team, he referred to "we." See also Philemon v24, where Paul talks about Luke being a ‘fellow worker.’

The Gospel was written to an individual Luke 1:3,4 "having had perfect understanding of these things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,(friend of God) that thou mightest know the certainty of those things wherein thou hast been instructed." It was probably written about A.D. 60.
It was directed at the Greek speakers, but was suitable for universal readers. St.Luke’s Gospel is written with great detail, he has included numerous historical facts, nautical facts and additional details about the life of Jesus not included in the other gospels.
St.Mark’s Gospel was written first then St.Luke’s Gospel. Luke probably never met Jesus, he examines "eyewitnesses and ministers of the Word" Luke 1:2.
Message. The Key Phrase "The Son of man," Luke 19:10, putting emphasis on the fact "Jesus is truly human."
This Gospel contains a number of events, sayings and parables which are not mentioned in the other Gospels.
